Call at least 2 but no more than 10 working days before digging. Mark the work site with white paint, chalk, flags or stakes.

New Service Request:

Accounts may be opened or changed between 6:30 am and 4:30 pm, Monday through Thursday (CLOSED FRIDAY) by visiting Brookland Utilities water office at 613 Holman. New customers are required to come in with two (2) forms of identification and complete an Application for Water Service. Existing customers may handle most transactions by telephone. New customers will need to complete application for water service and pay deposit before 3:00 pm, in order to guarantee water connection that same day.

In completing the Application for Water Service, new customers will need:
1) A $125.00 meter deposit. It is required to be paid in full at the time of application.
2) Proof of identification. Picture ID and a social security card is preferred.
3) Leases for rental property - We require leases and/or receipts for tenants connecting service.

Water Rates:

ORDINANCE NO. 2009-17

WHEREAS, the City of Brookland, Arkansas SHALL pass an ordinance authorizing Brookland Utilities water rate structure to include a city rate, rural rate, and commercial rate.

WHEREAS, the Brookland City Council shall evaluate Brookland Utilities Budget annually and commit itself to adjust water rates as may be required in the future to meet the necessary obligations of Brookland Utilities Water Systems;

NOW THEREFORE, the City of Brookland does hereby ordain that:

City water rate schedule shall be as follows and is to be implemented starting with the bills that are to be mailed 01/01/2010:
First 1,000 gallons.............$5.75 (minimum)
Next 4,000 gallons.............$4.25 per 1,000 gallons
All over 5,000 gallons.............$1.25 per 1,000 gallons

Rural water rate schedule shall be as follows and is to be implemented starting with the bills that are to be mailed 01/01/2010:
First 1,000 gallons.............$6.25 (minimum)
Next 4,000 gallons.............$5.75 per 1,000 gallons
All over 5,000 gallons.............$1.50 per 1,000 gallons

Commercial water rate schedule shall be as follows and is to be implemented starting with the bills that are to be mailed 01/01/2010:
First 5,000 gallons.............$7.59 per 1,000 gallons
All over 5,000 gallons.............$1.50 per 1,000 gallons

Emergency clause. It is hereby determined by the City Council of Brookland, Arkansas that the need for funding for capital improvement projects and maintenance of the current water system is necessary for the health, safety and welfare of the populace of Brookland, Arkansas; and further if the maintenance projects are not completed forthwith then it may be extremely costly for the City of Brookland, Arkansas, due to the failure to meet certain ADH and ADEQ standards, it is therefore declared by the City Council that an emergency exists with regard to the passage of this rate schedule increase and this ordinance shall be in effect from the date of its passage.
